5 A Dialogue With Objects: Objects of Isaac Monteiro 1959-1996

From the artist's introduction: "My objects are artistic in that they dwell on everyday situations and on universal human emotions. Taking this into account, I came up with an idea: why not give these works an inner voice and have 'them' speak for themselves? Why not let them explain and expand on what they are and how the viewer or participant (if physical help is required) can help them perform their artistic objectives. (A few objects are still described in the normal literary style.) To finalize, my objects are what they are. They do not pretend to be anything else. They are not part of a manifesto or a movement. They are self-sustained objects that were created by a human being for others to see, experience and touch."

If a myth already attaches to Aroch, it has to be transformed into a living myth, one that makes it possible to discover new relevance in his work every time, like the light of a ray that arrives at a point of time in the present from a star that has already vanished somewhere in the distant past." Profusely illustrated, mostly in color, with many full-page plates.
