Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford, 1985. 524 pages. Soft cover. Book is in Near Very Good condition: ex-library (library markings are a small sticker with library number on bottom of spine; library name stamp on title page, on bottom edge, on inside front cover, and on front free end page -- along with "discarded" in pencil; and card pocket on rear free end page. Except for these library defects, this book would be described as in "very good+" condition, with a small pen notation on the bottom of the Contents page, light rubbing on edges; and smudges on foot; binding is tight and square, and pages are otherwise clean and bright. This is a scarce catalog of this major exhibition by the same name. Includes the following interpretive essays: The Landscape and Environment of the Connecticut River Valley by Thomas R. Lewis; From Wilderness to Arcadian Vale: Material Life in the Connecticut River Valley, 1635-1760 by Kevin M. Sweeney; Artifacts of Regional Consciousness in the Connecticut River Valley 1700-1780 by Robert Blair St. George; Regional Culture in a Revolutionary Era: The Connecticut Valley 1760-1820 by Richard D. Brown. This was a major exhibit of 370 objects; 354 are shown in this catalog (of which 13 are color plates and the rest are b/w), with a description of each item.
