This trip led to annual treks, which a few years and six hundred dollars a-piece later had taken them into all the forty-eight states, two provinces of Canada and two states of Old Mexico. They were Lawrence and Mamie Giles and Gorden and Opal Brown of Lawton, Oklahoma. Some of the predicaments and pitfalls in which they found themselves are recorded here with the hopes that any prospective vagabonds won't try to avoid them. The couples are confident they learned more and had more fun than any disconcerted and hapless twenty-year-olds with a million dollars on a fling around the world."
